We are a highly interdisciplinary research group interested in the exploration of sustainable routes to organic and bio-hybrid functional materials for applications ranging from photonics and optoelectronics to biomedicine.
We study how to access smart materials by either setting up new efficient green methods for organic synthesis or by exploring the use of biological molecules, polymers, structures and entire living cells as sustainable functional platforms. We also mix the two approaches with very intriguing results.
We think that smart design and sustainable production of new functional materials is the basis for the progress of the most critical fields of technology, from electronics to medicine. And we trust that countless possibilities come from cross-contamination of different approaches of organic chemistry, biotechnology and materials science.
You are welcome to explore the research in our group and to know the people doing it.
