ANGELA PUNZI

Associate Professor

Angela Punzi obtained her degree in Chemistry from the University of Bari in 1990 and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the same institution.
Her research interests focus on the synthesis of π-conjugated molecular or polymeric materials for biological and optoelectronic applications, primarily using organometallic methodologies and/or direct arylation protocols. Her principal research topics include: i) direct acylation of organometallic reagents; ii) synthesis of polyunsaturated conjugate compounds (e.g. stereodefined polyenes and polyacetylenes); iii) synthesis of heterocycles (functionalized benzofurans, indoles and triazoles); iv) synthesis of molecular and polymeric organic semiconductors; v) development of green protocols for the synthesis of polyconjugated molecules, vi) synthesis of “open-shell” molecules (e.g. trityl radicals and para-quinodimethane diradicaloids). She is the author of 62 publications in international journals.
